DAY 11: A Film by Your Favorite Director – Magnolia (Paul Thomas Anderson, 1999)
Probably one of the days where I really think of who to choose. After some serious thinking, I have to go with THE Paul Thomas Anderson. His works are ambitious in nature, but there’s something with his approach that makes the most simple stories complex, and the most complex as interesting. Whether it’s ensemble heavy pieces such as this film, and Boogie Nights, or a sole character study such as Punch Drunk Love, and There Will Be Blood, Anderson tells stories in a way that will surely leave a lasting effect on you. How I wish I’d be great as him (even half great will do) when I’m in my 40s.
