DAY 16: A Film You Used to Love, But Now Hate – Slumdog Millionaire (Danny Boyle, 2008)

Well hate is not technically the word per se, but I lose all the love I have for this film when everyone else jumped on the bandwagon and claimed as if they’re the first persons who discovered it. It’s a film I still have high respects for, and probably can still watch it some other time but the emotional connection I have in this film stopped because I felt that it quickly lost it’s lovable underdog status when it went “mainstream.”  I remember it was November-December 2008 when I saw this film, and come March, everyone was praising and talking about it. So yeah, I have a thing against things (movies, TV shows, songs, albums) that everyone will suddenly “like” because it’s the cool, hip thing etc., and sadly, this film falls under that category. I still think it deserved the Oscars it won for, though.
