  1. That’s great. I think you’ll see you are very right. I think Best Actor will be a close call. I think it is going to be a tough one next year, and only because the roles are so difficult: I mean in ‘The Master’ – Phoenix, and Hugh Jackman’s role is just so demanding, and the ‘impersonations’ of Hitchcock and Lincoln – must be mind-blowing acting. Though I don’t see why Knightley should be nominated – she surely didn’t do anything ‘beyond her usual stuff’ in this visually stunning, but very lame ‘Anna Karenina’. Another thing is either Amanda Seyfrield or Anne Hathaway (or actually both) are leading female roles in ‘Les Miserables’, otherwise there is no leading female role there, and I don’t think this is the case at all.

    • Best Actor will definitely be in the hands of the precursors. Or who knows, we might get an Adrien Brody type of win leading to a Hugh Jackman one?

Anne Hathaway’s role is very short in the film and disappears early on, so she really is supporting. Only Jackman is the one campaigned in Lead, so it’s not surprising since many movies have skipped submitting to Lead Actress before.
