2013 in GIFs   Leave a comment

So I decided to skip my annual movie, TV shows, red carpet looks, and songs lists for this year since I have no time to write them all. Instead, I’ll be posting my favorite moments of 2013 in GIF style. So yes, most of these would be from awards show ceremonies or basically any pop culture event of the year. Okay.

tumblr_static_you_ready

glenn-close-drunk

Okay so let’s begin with five six time Oscar loser a.k.a Albert Nobbs herself Glenn Close. At the Golden Globes last January, Close probably thought that she’s also one of the cool kids when she decided to play drunk after Tina Fey’s signal. You probably have no idea how epic this moment was. I mean I can’t even choose my favorite part. Is it the closing of her eyes to give a more convincing portrayal? Is it when she changed her mind and started to look up the heavens instead to make it even more convincing? Is it her husband’s coy “WTF I think I actually married Alex Forrest” tepid laugh? I guess I have to go with none of the above and choose the closing shot of her looking sideways to see check if people find her stuff funny.

That same night, we’re treated to one of the best (and yes I mean the best) awards show presentations ever. When SNL alums Kristin Wyg and Will Pharrell (as Tina Fey would say it) presented the Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical/Comedy, I.WAS.DYING. As a refresher, here’s how they described the nominees that night:

(on Emily Blunt’s Salmon Fishing in Yemen): “When the salmon comes out.. and when the bad guy comes…. and the salmon was like.. and you’re in Yemen.
(on Judi Dench of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel): “That Judi Dench. Where did she come from? Unknown, she used to be a police officer, and this is her fist movie. And when all the marigold comes out.. and it’s on her hair. And on one scene, she looks at the town people and she’s like “YOUUU!!! YOUUU GET OUT OF HERE!!!”
(on Jennifer Lawrence of Silver Lings Playbook): “Ugh love Jennifer Lawrence. J.LAW. And then comes the silverrr!! I thought it was an animated film. And all the silver she has collected and they tried to get it away from her and she’s like “NOOO! THAT’S MY COOKBOOK!” and she’s like “YOUUU!!! YOUUU GET OUT OF HERE!!!”
(on Maggie Smith of Quartet): “And no one knows what a quartet is. IT IS AMBIGUOUS! And you think you know what it is, but then the guy comes and says “I think I know what a quartet is!” but he doesn’t”
(
on Meryl Streep of Hope Springs): “And Meriall Streep. And she’s the sassy sheriff! “I’m Hope Springs!” She comes in a horse and she’s like she looks at the town people and she’s says “YOUUU!!! YOUUU GET OUT OF HERE!!!”

UGH TYPING THAT WAS A HOOT. I’m laughing again. And everyone in the room was actually entertained. Everyone that is except that creature named Tommy Lee Jones.

tommy-lee-jones-golden-globes

Ugh Gramps looked grumpy as hell during that presentation. Guess what TLJ, that was my exact look when you stole that Oscar from Ralph Fiennes and Leonardo di Caprio.

Then we have the Screen Actors Guild Awards where you’re allowed to waste a minute of your life listening to Giuliana Rancic say things like this:

sofia-vergara-oreo-cookie-1

Girl is useless as their manicam. By the way let’s appreciate that the SAG was the only time this award season where Anne Hathaway opened her mouth and said something entertaining that does not involve
a.”a blunt object I will forevermore use as a weapon against self-doubt”,
b. thanking Victor Hugo
c. thinking her Oscar win will stop prostitution.
d. correcting the spelling of her name
It was when Anne presented with co-star Hugh Jackman and they played a banter of how they will describe Les Mis in 2013.

tumblr_mhceqjQEOc1qfajn1o14_r1_250

Yes Anne, you crushed it. Speaking of crushed, don’t you love this BFF pic of Nicole Kidman and the lesser Nicole Kidman Naomi Watts at the SAGs? Go Nic, giving some Regina George fierceness.

549951_4877300245700_1459252182_n

Prior to her history making releasing an album without anything stint, Beysus graced us all with her presence at the Superbowl. But it wasn’t even her who stole the show. Two words: poor Michelle.

michelle

Go poor Michelle!! Put that one day off to good use and appear at the Superbowl.I’m living for her facial reaction. She suddenly got cocky when she realized she did not fall off the mosh pit. YESSS!!

photo

But then again, we’re quickly reminded why she never skyrocketed as a solo artist. I mean not literally a rocket but even Bey can do it.

Anyway, let’s move on to the Grammys a.k.a the first televised exam to see if Taylor Swift knows this song…

taylor 1or this song…

taylor 2

and this one as well…

taylor 3

and did you know she knew this song too?

taylor 4

Okay we get it Taylor. You know all the songs. But then again who wants to see her do it for a fifth  time when you can see Legend Kidman bopping to that Bob Marley tribute?

a_560x0

It wasn’t as epic as her singing Teenage Dream  at the Grammys last year but she gets bonus points because Adele is wearing a red doily.

Then there’s also the BAFTA where the only two interesting things we saw were Dame Dench’s O face (and when I say O, I mean Oh my god!) as Javier Bardem falls asleep

movies-baftas-judi-dench

and David O. Russell’s reaction when Emmanuelle Riva wins Best Actress.

movies-baftas-david-o-russell

I was secretly wishing Emmanuelle would say “I beat J.Law” at the podium but then I remembered she doesn’t speak in English. So maybe in French? Anyway, off to the Oscars.

Okay remember when I said a few posts above that Giuliana Rancic is as useless as the manicam? Well I take it back. The Manicam is more useful than Giuliana apparently. I’m pretty sure it made Catherine Zeta Jones upset when Ryan Seacrest denied her to do one. You can clearly see in her eyes she wants to parade her fingers on the manicam. Not good, Ryan!

nicole-kidmanSee even Mr. and Mrs. Keith Urban felt bad for La Zeta.

Aside from that, we saw Lil’ Quvenzhane Wallis proving she’s the man (with a proud Denzel Washington beaming from behind),

tumblr_mirena6eyd1rdwlr8o1_400

a bored Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter

and a tripping Best Actress winner. Whoever put that banana peel there for Anne Hathaway clearly didn’t work

tumblr_miresb7xum1qh9nffo1_500(2)

But the best moment happened when Emmanuelle Riva unintentionally takes revenge on David O. Russell upon learning his reaction to her BAFTA Best Actress win.

Be thankful, David. At least Em didn’t squashed your face with a pillow. #justsaying

In April this year, Reese Witherspoon was arrested by the cops but she tried to get herself out of this…

tumblr_inline_ml6d6xatqi1qz4rgp

…which only means she ended up in prison with a mugshot. You should have called Elle Woods to save you, Reese.

Taylor Swift won eight Billboard Music Awards in May of this year. But surprisingly, not any of those can match the WIN level of her reactions here:

Meanwhile, Miguel channels his inner Bjorn Barrefors and trains for the Olympics on air

miguel-kicks-fan

Ouch for that woman whose head was found in between Miguel’s legs.

And as everyone celebrates film over at the Cannes Film Festival, two tiny teeny things clearly doesn’t wanna be there. Julianne Moore’s little toes can’t wait enough to go home instead they’re trying to escape while she’s on the red carpet.

cn_image.size.julianne-moore-toes

Still on the subject of feet, it’s not cool to talk about North West anymore, so let’s just hope Kim K’s feet some speedy recovery for everything they’ve been through this year:

Untitled1-650x342

tumblr_mo6lqdTBl81qanm80o1_400Yes Debra Messing don’t act too surprised, those are her feet.

Last August 10, two of the biggest popstars go head to head as Lady Gaga releases Applause and Katy Perry releases Roar on the same week. You know it was bound to get messy.

tumblr_ms37gxzpFC1sq00w5o1_500

And someone’s coming out on top:

gif-applause-roar

But come the VMAs, it wasn’t even the two of them who became the talk of the town. But before that we saw…

Justin Timberlake joined by four other lessers perform,

But it Miley who made the whole thing classic. Even getting a classic rxn from Rih

September also was the end for Breaking Bad. And I think no amount of GIF will give it justice so I’ll just post a photo of Bryan and Aaron because uhm, duh, bitch.

And when the Emmys came, Neil Patrick Harris bombed as host, but no other bombed better than what this guy did:

Then cute Merritt Wever gives one of the best Emmy speeches ever when she said nothing but…

while Julia Louis Dreyfus stays in character in her speech.

Michael Douglas, meanwhile, uses Matt Damon as metaphor in his thank you speech

And though he did not win, Kevin Spacey still scores one in my b0ok after doing this:

And last month, Miley Cyrus wins Round 2 of best performance at the American Music Awards when she performs with a huge cat behind her:

And that’s how you make an exit!  Wait let me reiterate

On the other hand, here’s how you make an entrance. An album entrance that is. As Beysus Christ showed us, just drop em ‘off and boom.

Let’s pause this moment and recognize Queen B.

Oh wait, did you know Britney released an album this year? I’m sure even she’s not aware, but I guess she’s raking it in Vegas no so go Brit and

And as Oscar season comes, we’re treated to a whole lot of epic GIFs from contenders like this of J.Law pleading…

or Sandra Bullock in Gravity a.k.a basically whatever you wanna do to your enemy

tumblr_mu5rue2ikY1srn8sbo1_500

But to close this off, a legendary performance to close the year happened between Gags and Legend X when they did a duet of Do What U Want on The Voice finale.

tumblr_mxzv8643Cl1qa9vqgo1_500

Anybody who does not get the ABBA meets Whatever Happened to Baby Jane reference is deads to me. Plus, I’d kill to have my head on Legend’s bosoms. Anyway, cheers to a happy 2013 and let’s hope for crazier things this 2014.

65th Primetime Emmy Awards Best Dressed List   Leave a comment

Now that the awards were given and the ceremony is over, let’s give a moment to those who dressed up with such class and panache that if we could have only given Emmys to showing up in top form, they’d definitely be the frontrunners.

As always, you can click the photos for them to be in their larger form. 🙂

Padma Lakshmi

15. PADMA LAKSHMI in Kaufman Franco

Isn’t it amazing that a woman whose show requires her to eat a lot of food all season shows up this gorgeous at the red carpet? Loving this white Kaufman Franco look on Padma, as she puts the P in this perfect ensemble.

Anna Gunn

14. ANNA GUNN in Romona Keveza

When Anna Gunn showed up at the red carpet in this black and white Romona Keveza creation, I thought she’s missing an accessory. Glad to see her pick it up at the middle of the ceremony as she won Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Breaking Bad.

Allison Williams

13. ALLISON WILLIAMS IN Ralph Lauren

Simplicity is the key to being sexy. That’s what Williams did when she showed up in this cerulean blue Ralph Laurend dress. It was a combination of simple yet stylish that made her look so effortlessly chic.

Giuliana Rancic

12. GIULIANA RANCIC in Mikael D

Who says you need to be an A lister to make a mark on the red carpet? E! correspondent Giuliana Rancic was top notch looking in this blue Mikael D gown she’s wearing. I’m a fan of the intricate details of the gown, and she’s rocking this short do that she’s currently sporting.

Edie Falco

11. EDIE FALCO in Escada

Four time Emmy winner Edie Falco finally gets it right, as she looks so comfortable in this blue Escada ensemble. It does not say try hard nor is she wearing it like a hanger. The hair looks perfect as well.

Jane Krakowski

10. JANE KRAKOWSKI in Zac Posen

Maybe I’m just a big fan of this color? But despite being empty handed for her performance in 30 Rock, one area where she certainly was a winner is in the red carpet with this Zac Posen creation. The hair is a bit Kate Walsh-ish though.

Sofia Vergara

09. SOFIA VERGARA in Vera Wang

We’re used to Vergara bringing out all the guns with her red carpet appearances. It’s probably the reason why this red Vera Wang gown worked for her: it’s restrained and gives her some soft looks and doesn’t scream as loud as Gloria Delgado.

Carrie Preston

08. CARRIE PRESTON in Romona Keveza

She might have won her Emmy for Guest Actress in a Drama Series last week, but that did not stop Preston from going out in top form in this Romona Keveza creation. I understand if you think this is similar to Debra Messing’s 2007 Emmy dress, but I love what Mrs. Michael Emerson brought to the table.

Kaley Cuoco

07. KALEY CUOCO in Vera Wang

I don’t know what is it with Vera Wang this year, but she sure did know how to choose for her actresses. Like Vergara, Cuoco looks more softened and relaxed in this plum gown. For once, she doesn’t look a tacky or a try hard which is probably her dressing motto the past few years.

Emilia Clarke

06. EMILIA CLARKE in Donna Karan Atelier

She might not have won the Emmy, but she sure made her presence felt. Daenerys was showstopping in this Donna Karan Atelier ensemble which will tame every dragon there is out there once they see this outfit.

Elisabeth Moss

05. ELISABETH MOSS in Andrew Gn

Going blonde has been one of the best fashion decisions Elisabeth Moss has successfully made. That, and wearing this black top on a white skirt Andrew Gn gown at last night’s ceremonies. Now if she can only win an Emmy, then it would have been better.

Rose Byrne

04. ROSE BYRNE in Calvin Klein

Emmy nominee Rose Byrne might not be nominated this year (she was there to support boyfriend Bobby Cannavale), but she was a delight to see in this pink Calvin Klein outfit which highlighted her statuesque body.

Tina Fey

03. TINA FEY in Narciso Rodriguez

So yeah basically this is a big FUCK YOU to everyone who says Tina Fey knows no other color than black. This blue Narciso Rodriguez showed Tina has those dangerous sexy curves. And yes she won an Emmy! ❤

Julia Louis Dreyfus

02. JULIA LOUIS DREYFUS in Monique Lhuillier

Seeing what Julia will wear is like one of my most anticipated Emmy moments every year. Girl just knows how to bring it every single year. And she did it again with this very natural look in a shimmering Monique Lhuillier look. Oh and another shiny Emmy.

Michelle Dockery

01. MICHELLE DOCKERY in Prada

So yeah, this might not have been the most original look, but everything about this worked for me. The color combination? Check. The way the top part hugged her body? Check. Neat hair? Check. Michelle Dockery is a goddess, and this is another receipt to back that claim up.

So, who were your favorites last night? And what is your favorite fashion moment? You can pipe them in below!

66th Cannes Film Festival Best Dressed List   Leave a comment

The 66th Cannes Film Festival already finished its run yesterday, and boy has it been a whirlwind. After all, we are not only seeing the best of world cinema, but this also serves as a platform for worldwide fashion. The Cannes red carpet is known to be one of the most prominent in the world with actors all over the globe debuting and making their mark on the red carpet. This year, these 15 looks stood out among the rest.

*The photos can be clicked to see in a bigger form.

15. JESSICA BIEL in Marchesa

Only coming in as a plus one for husband Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel played the card well in this Marchesa creation that is not a total showstopper, but not totally lazy as well. It’s the perfect outfit for a star who has no movie in the festival. Plus, I love how strong the effect of the serpent necklace was.

14. AUDREY TAOTOU

The festival hostess this year has been mostly in short dresses throughout the whole festivities, so it’s nice that she did saved the best for last. Her closing ceremony big red gown is both a showstopper and easily gets your attention.

13. SHARON STONE in Roberto Cavalli

One of 90s superstars was literally a diva during the Behind the Candelabra gala night, as she stepped on the red carpet just minutes before the actual screening start. But who can blame Sharon Stone? She’s dressed the part in this blue Cavalli gown, and attention must really be given to her in this winning look.

12. LEA SEYDOUX in Louis Vuitton

Palme d’or winner Lea Seydoux was va va voom as she attends her other Cannes entry, Grand Central, gala screening. I particularly like the shade of blue that she wore here and the simple do and the dark lips add more character to this outfit. Best dressed worthy!

11. BERENICE BEJO in Elie Saab

Cannes Best Actress winner Berenice Bejo was a sight to behold as she wears this teal ensemble during the closing festivities. While one might consider the whole teal look safe, it works exactly here and compliments her perfectly. That of course, and her new Best Actress plaque.

10. ZHANG YUQI in Ulyana Sergeenko

Russian designer Ulyana Sergeenko made a bold statement at the opening gala of the Cannes this year, as Zhang Yuqi strutted this peacock green gown in the red carpet. I think that while others might see this as too much of a cabbage leaf gown, it is the over the top nature of the dress that suits with the grandiose of the Cannes red carpet.

09. UMA THURMAN in Atelier Versace

Uma Thurman was tasked to present the biggest award at Cannes yesterday, so it is just fitting that she comes out in top form which she did in this Atelier Versace creation. I’m not particularly enamored with the top part (as it gives me throw pillow vibes), but Uma hasn’t looked this good in a while.

08. LIU WEN in Roberto Cavalli

Roberto Cavalli’s blue creations stood out this year. Aside from Sharon Stone, Victoria’s Secret model Liu Wen was the vision of elegance in this royal blue gown. It’s even better that she paired it with just jewels on the hand and kept her neck open.

07. JESSICA CHASTAIN in Givenchy Couture

Two time Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain was a royal vision in purple as she steps on the red carpet of the All is Lost premiere in this custom made Givenchy ensemble. The embellishments added layers in this gown, and she kept the hair simple as to not compete with the attention of the dress.

06. JANE FONDA in Atelier Versace

It’s always such a breath of fresh air to see Jane Fonda parading the red carpet. After all, she’s one testament that age is no hindrance to rock the red carpet. That is what we have witnessed once again as she attends the Jimmy P premiere in this turquoise Versace ensemble with some very interesting designs.

05. ROSIE HUNTINGTON WHITELEY in Christian Dior

While this one is not from the actual red carpet. Rosie Huntington Whiteley shows different personas as she showed up at the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala in this white Dior dress. Half sultry, half sweet, dear Rosie kept it sweet and simple, which perfectly suited the event she attended to.

04. ZHANG ZIYI in Elie Saab

As she attends the premiere of Venus in Fur, Zhang Ziyi looks fantabulous in this lilac Elie Saab creation that easily grans the attention of the audience. Whether it’s the see through top, the three fourths sleeve, or just the jewels, it surely made its mark in the red carpet scene.

03. EMMA WATSON in Chanel Couture

With her film The Bling Ring opening the Un Certain Regard section of the festival, Emma Watson set the bar already high when she attended the gala screening in this Chanel creation. I love how this screamed elegance and sophistication and at the same time, she still managed to avoid looking boring and safe.

02. KRISTIN SCOTT THOMAS in Armani Prive

Not only is Kristin Scott Thomas getting raves for her scene stealing turn in Only God Forgives, she also nailed the part when she appeared in the gala screening of the said film in this glittering Armani Prive creation. It’s just so bold that it will easily grab your attention.

01. IRINA SHAYK in Elie Saab

And Elie Saab strikes homebase in this pink gown accentuated with a belt. It was definitely a stunner, attention grabbing color, and does not lack tacky at all. Sounds like an easy winner to me.

BUT WAIT…

Of course we all know that there’s one legend who ruled the whole Cannes in terms of fashion. It will be unfair for the others to be lumped with her since I’m clearly biased, but Legend also is on a caliber of her own this year. If there’s one fashion icon who ruled this past festival, it’s no other than jury member Nicole Kidman. Here are her five amazing red carpet looks this year:

LOOK 1: Opening Ceremony in Christian Dior

Legend wasted no time to impress everyone and hit the red carpet in this amazing Christian Dior creation that definitely stood out from the whole pack. Everything about this look just screams iconic from the strapless gown, to the interesting details, and the perfect do, and the coral shoes, this is how you start a festival, and Kidman knows exactly that this is the deal.

LOOK 2: Inside Llewyn Davis gala screening in L’Wren Scott

Kidman’s next appearance would be her only one with husband Keith Urban for the whole festival. This time, it’s a L’Wren Scott creation that’s part of her 2013 Fall collection. This one is consistent with her previous look, and she was unafraid to bring the colors in the red carpet which totally paid off.  This could have been an easy misfire, but the gown plus that movie star hair is another hit for me.

LOOK 3: Nebraska gala screening in Valentino Couture

For the Nebraska screening, Kidman stepped on the red carpet again, this time with a Valentino creation. Most bloggers quickly mentioned that this is the same dress that Anne Hathaway ditched the last minute at the Oscars (though people from Valentino already cleared the reports by saying it is NOT the same gown). With that said, Anne who? Legend Kidman is just majestic and ethereal in this look, which clearly cements this as one of her all time best.

LOOK 4: Venus in Fur gala screening in Chanel

After that heavenly appearance during the Nebraska screening, it will difficult to follow the impact it caused, so this one is probably the weakest among Kidman’s red carpet appearances. However, this Chanel isn’t necessarily outstanding on its own, but the red pumps idea and the fact that Kidman seems to be comfortable wearing it gives this a free pass.

LOOK 5: Closing ceremonies in Giorgio Armani

As to cap off her Cannes jury experience, Nicole Kidman attends the closing ceremony in a custom made Giorgio Armani gown. I love how this look is subdued but sublime. Kidman really exused a true movie star elegance and I like how she wore this white Armani gown which complimented her skin and height effectively.

What are your favorite looks this year? Are you as happy as I am that Legend Kidman wore different designers every time she appears on the red carpet? Which one will make the year end list? Add them in the Comments section. 🙂

85th Academy Awards Best Dressed List   Leave a comment

And with the Oscars wrapping up the awards season yesterday, it is safe to say that the fashion and the red carpet ended with a bang. As actresses walk the red carpet at yesterday’s Academy Awards, we got a good representation of the glitz and the glamour that is Hollywood. Here are my picks for this year’s best dressed list at the Oscars.

Once again, you can click the photos to enlarge them. All photo credits go to: Yahoo! OMG coverage

Amy Adams

12. AMY ADAMS in Oscar dela Renta

This design has been done a lot of times at the Oscars (more notoriously by the ethereal Charlize Theron in baby blue back in 2005 ), but what makes this light gray Oscar dela Renta creation work was that Amy sashayed this on the red carpet very effortlessly. I’m liking the natural look both with her hair and make up too.

Jessica Chastain

11. JESSICA CHASTAIN in Armani Prive

There is an unwritten rule in red carpet fashion to not wear a dress that perfectly matches the color of your hair, with black being the sole exception. With that said, Chastain’s Armani Prive gown is an exception to that rule as she gave a throwback to early Hollywood in this very sexy and classic ensemble.

Queen Latifah

10. QUEEN LATIFAH in Badgley Mischka

It has been exactly ten years when Quene Latifah herself was nominated for the Oscar, but she’s still looking every inch a winner in the red carpet. This clean white Badgley Mischka creation that she wore last night quickly trumps both her Chicago co-stars Renee Zellweger and Catherine Zeta Jones.

Sandra Bullock

09. SANDRA BULLOCK in Elie Saab

I just love it when Sandra ditches sexy for fab. Well, it does seem like she managed to hit both in this lacy black Elie Saab dress which revealed enough skin, but at the same time, showed movie star vibes too. Plus points for that hair brooch she wore.

Naomi Watts

08. NAOMI WATTS in Armani Prive

The second Best Actress nominee in the list, Naomi Watts, is also wearing Armani Prive. This metallic ensemble with some very unique details need some warming up to do, but for an event such as the Oscars, it worked for Naomi who’s looking fresh and fab in it.

Charlize Theron

07. CHARLIZE THERON in Dior

Though not nominated this year, Oscar winner Charlize Theron was a hoot all night. One of the reasons definitely is this white Dior dress that looked simple but elegant to her. I imagine this as the better version of what Anne Hathaway wants to achieve at the Golden Globes.

Jennifer Garner

06. JENNIFER GARNER in Gucci

She might not be going home with an Oscar, but she’s going home with an Oscar winner. That, and some fabulous remarks with her purple Gucci gown that had some very interesting back details. Garner didn’t just look like a plus one that night; she’s definitely a star in her own right.

alicia vikander

05. ALICIA VIKANDER in Elie Saab Couture

Supporting her nominated film A Royal Affair is such an easy task when you have the lovely Alicia Vikander, here in an intricately beaded blue Elie Saab creation, to grace the event.

Nicole Kidman

04. NICOLE KIDMAN in L’Wren Scott

While it was husband Keith Urban who chose this dress for her, Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman proved that the best way of responding to an Oscar snub is by going up to the event in this head turning L’Wren Scott creation that playfully gave the viewers a glimpse of her sexy body. How one achieves that at 45 is simply astonishing.

AManda Seyfried

03. AMANDA SEYFRIED in Alexander McQueen

Third time seems to be the charm for Les Mis star Amanda Seyfried, as she finally hit it right the red carpet at her third Oscar appearance. Wearing this Alexander McQueen gown bearing these dragonfly design that fits her like a glove is her easy way en route the best dressed list.

Corinne Bishop

02. CORINNE BISHOP

Just eight years ago, we witnessed this young woman at 11 seated beside her father who won Best Actor for Ray. Fast forward to now, Corinne Bishop isn’t just a companion to her father, but she’s also showing signs of fashion greatness when she stepped out the red carpet in this teal blue gown.

Jennifer Lawrence

01. JENNIFER LAWRENCE in Dior Haute Couture

Who said you can only win one at a time? Aside from taking home the Oscar Best Actress, Jennifer Lawrence is also red carpet’s best dressed woman yesterday as she stepped out of this Dior Haute Couture ensemble yesterday. You know how some Best Actress Oscar frontrunners just look “winners” in their coronation night? That trend continued yesterday with J.Law. As far as Oscar appearances go, J.Law is 2/2 for me (that red dress in 2010 was also loooove).

That’s it! Who are your best dressed picks at yesterday’s Oscars? Did you also fall in love with J.Law’s Oscar dress?

19th Screen Actors Guild Awards Best Dressed List   2 comments

Hey everybody! The SAG Awards just happened two hours ago, but let’s get this one over and done with. After all, this was the last time this year that both TV and movie stars are honored in the same room. As for the red carpet, there’s a lot of interesting looks this time and as always, lots of colors everywhere. Some have been recycled, some were misfits, but for the most part, here are 16 personalities who were dressed to kill that night.

You can click the photos or open it in new tab to make the photos bigger.

jaimie alexander

16. JAIMIE ALEXANDER in Marc Bouwer

Nurse Jackie’s Jaimie Alexander was sexy and classic in this black Marc Buower creation that highlights her upper body in a flirty and very interesting manner.

idina menzel

15. IDINA MENZEL

Truth be told, it’s not as if Tony winner Idina Menzel needs to impress people with her red carpet appearances. But then again, she just did her homework when she appeared in this red and pink combination that highlights her impressive figure.

jane krakowski

14. JANE KRAKOWSKI in Kaufman Franco

From one Tony winner to another, Jane Krakowski was a sight to be seen in this Kaufman Franco creation that the 30 Rock star described as orangey-sherbet. Yum!

nancy o dell

13. NANCY O’DELL

While it’s the stars that are usually the people you look forward to the most, red carpet interviewers aren’t spared from dressing the part as well. That’s just what Entertainment Tonight‘s Nancy O’Dell did when she wore this aquamarine blue with impressive bead works in it.

keirnan shipka

12. KEIRNAN SHIPKA in Oscar dela Renta

It’s probably the Mad Men effect, but Keirnan Shipka is channeling the classic look in this Oscar dela Renta dress that highlights both her youthful aura and the stylish animal in her.

lea michele

11. LEA MICHELE in Valentino

See, this is the Lea Michele that suits her better. Instead of doing all the trying hard sultry looks that she’s been doing the past few years, the Glee star looks better and more comfortable when she shows her sweetheart side such as this pink Valentino gown she’s wearing.

nina dobrev

10. NINA DOBREV in Elie Saab

Having a body built that most designers would kill to dress, The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev was rocking the part in this pink Elie Saab creation that made her look edgy but cute as well.

viola davis

09. VIOLA DAVIS in Monique Lhuillier

Last year’s Best Actress winner Viola Davis’s presence was clearly a light in the room. Thank to this Monique Lhuillier creation she sported when she presented Daniel Day Lewis the Best Actor trophy.

jessica lange

08. JESSICA LANGE in J. Mendel

Who says you can’t dress the part when you’re already in your 60s? You probably haven’t seen Best Actress nominee Jessica Lange as she strutted in this J. Mendel ensemble that appropriately made her look years younger.

amanda seyfried

07. AMANDA SEYFRIED in Zac Posen

I’ve always thought of Seyfried as a boring red carpet entity. But after nailing this blue Zac Posen creation that she donned just a few hours ago, I need some serious reconsideration.

jennifer garner

06. JENNIFER GARNER in Oscar dela Renta

Despite Jennifer Garner being just a plus one of Ben Affleck last night, she’s definitely a top notch plus one. Her golden Oscar dela Renta gown might be the lucky charm for her husband’s ensemble win.

naomi watts

05. NAOMI WATTS in Marchesa

Best Actress nominee Naomi Watts was perfect in this Marchesa outfit that she partnered with soft curls and bright lipstick. She perfectly showed the soft and tender looks that made her look every inch a star.

nicole kidman

04. NICOLE KIDMAN in Vivienne Westwood

The two time nominee tonight who was Keithless was also giving early circa 2000s fierceness in this Vivienne Westwood creation that showed a slit and her current favorite trend: see throughs. Her shorter flat hair can be a hit or miss, but she handles it just like a real movie star.

jennifer lawrence

03. JENNIFER LAWRENCE in Christian Dior

Tonight’s Best Actress winner was about to skip the ceremonies due to pneumonia. Good thing that did not happen as we would have missed the opportunity to see her rock this dark blue Christian Dior gown she wore.

marion cotillard

02. MARION COTILLARD in Dior Haute Couture

It’s such a shame that Cotillard missed the Best Actress Oscar nod, as we could have seen more of how she slay the red carpet just like how she did with this blue and white combo of this Dior Haute Couture creation. Plus point to the new short bob do also fits her perfectly.

jessica chastain

01. JESSICA CHASTAIN in Alexander McQueen

And despite her not winning Best Actress tonight, Jessica Chastain tops my list of the best dressed in this fiery red Alexander McQueen that she sported. It was simple but less is definitely more as it highlighted her youthful beauty. Incidentally, Jessica Chastain also topped my SAG best dressed list last year so maybe a three-peat next year?

That’s it! Who are your best dressed list from this year’s SAG Awards?

Best Dressed List at the 70th Golden Globe Awards   1 comment

The 70th Golden Globe Awards were held earlier this day (here in Manila), and it was the kick off this awards season (because the BFCA sucked too much to be taken seriously). Sadly, the red carpet was a lot tamer this year in terms of red carpet dresses. Most were just safe and even those best dressed have already shown better looks during their past Golden Globe appearances. With that said, here are the fourteen looks that rocked the red carpet. You can

You can also click the photos for them to look bigger. (Photos courtesy of justjared and Yahoo!)

jennifer lawrence

14. JENNIFER LAWRENCE in Dior Haute Couture

The Silver Linings Playbook Best Actress winner started her journey to the Oscar with this red Dior Haute Couture dress that she embellished with a thin belt to further emphasize both her waist and her cleavage.

jessica alba

13. JESSICA ALBA in Oscar dela Renta

Although Jessica Alba’s dress looks quite similar to the color of J.Law’s, they’re actually different. Alba mixed both old and new Hollywood in this dress especially with that attention grabbing necklace, though we could have lived without that feather duster purse.

taylor swift

12. TAYLOR SWIFT in Donna Karan Atelier

Swift did great on her Golden Globe debut with this violet Donna Karan dress that she wore at last night’s event. It was too light for the Oscars and too formal for the Grammys, and she successfully got the right mood for some Globes partying. Now if she can only work on her bitchface mode when Adele won…

hayden panettiere

11. HAYDEN PANETTIERE in Roberto Cavalli

Golden Globe nominee Hayden Panettiere was at her best red carpet look evah as she steps out of this ethereal white Roberto Cavalli creation that she finally looked like she’s dressing her age and that she’s comfortable with it.

jennifer lopez

10. JENNIFER LOPEZ in Zuhair Murad

J.Lo still proved that age is nothing but a number as she steps out of this nude Zuhair Murad that perfectly embraced her curvaceous body. Definitely a photogenic dress that gets plus points for the woman wearing it.

sarah hyland

09. SARAH HYLAND in Max Azria Atelier

Though Modern Family went 0/3 at last night’s show, star Sarah Hyland was a stunner in this black Max Azria creation that made her look mature but still having fun look.

claire danes

08. CLAIRE DANES in Versace

Wow. Who knew that just a month ago, Danes just gave birth to her new born baby boy. This red hot Versace gown is the perfect comeback for a new mommy like Danes.

anne hathaway

07. ANNE HATHAWAY in Chanel

While Hathaway is one of best dressed actresses of her generation, this was a bit of  a letdown especially since her last Globe appearance in 2011 was my top look of that year. This year though, she went with a safe but every inch regal in a white Chanel piece that looks a bit like a wedding gown.

naomi watts

06. NAOMI WATTS in Zac Posen

Best Actress nominee Naomi Watts probably looks too covered in this cherry red Zac Posen gown, but all it needs is one look at the back that showed her flawless tsunami-free skin.

sally field

05. SALLY FIELD in Alberta Ferretti

It’s good to see when acctresses who are already in their 60s still strut to the world how fabulous they look. That’s what Sally Field did when she donned up this blue Alberta Ferretti gown which was a breath of fresh air from her usual black short dresses.

megan fox

04. MEGAN FOX in Dolce & Gabbana

Motherhood has its way of showing the natural beauty in everyone. That seems to catch up on first time mom Megan Fox as she showed up looking pretty in this Dolce & Gabbana creation that gives her this simple but stunning look.

marion cotillard

03. MARION COTILLARD in Christian Dior

Speaking of natural beauty, my God can Marion Cotillard look any prettier than this one. The Best Actress nominee, who was simple in Dior which she matched with same colored pumps, can pass off as a 20 year old woman here. Une jolie femme!

miranda kerr

02. MIRANDA KERR in Zuhair Murad

Kerr is certainly no actress, but the red carpet is definitely her territory. And boy does she rule in it! This red Zuhair Murad creation gives her part sexy, part flirty, but whole goddess look.

nicole kidman

01. NICOLE KIDMAN in Alexander McQueen

She might not have won any Globes that night, but she’s clearly the red carpet winner. Kidman is still on top of the fashion list in this Alexander McQueen gown which she fits like a glove. And check out that see through middle part. Not only that but Kidman seems to be the last few actresses we have whose posture in the red carpet is perfection (along with Cate Blanchett, Penelope Cruz, and Charlize Theron). I particularly like the shorter hair as well, as it’s different from her usual long blonde hair.

18 Best Red Carpet Looks of 2012: Short Dresses   Leave a comment

For this day, we’d continue with our year end lists here at Tit for Tat. Today’s theme will be fashion. Among all the thousands of red carpets look that we’ve seen this year, I divided my list into two parts: one is for the short and the cocktail dresses while the second part will be for long gowns. Here are 18 of the best red carpet looks of the year that involved women in short and cocktail dresses.

64th Primetime Emmy Awards Best Dressed List   Leave a comment

If you’re not one of those who are concerned about the awards competition, then you’re probably in for the fashion right? TV’s biggest night just finished a while ago, and here are those who deserve Emmys for bringing award worthy moments in the red carpet.

You can click the photos for the larger version. Credits to yahoo.com and justjared.com for the photos!

16. JANE KRAKOWSKI

This 30 Rock supporting actress might have been deprived of an Emmy nomination this year, but this Kaufman Franco glittery dress that she paired with a Judith Leiber clutch and Lorraine Schwartz  jewels is a definitely a winning look in my book.

15. ALLISON WILLIAMS

Girls star Allison Williams  stood out from all her co-stars in this Emmy nominated program when she stepped out of the red carpet wearing this emerald green Oscar dela Renta dress in the red carpet.

14. MELISSA RAUCH

From one green dress to the next one, The Big Bang Theory‘s Melissa Rauch kept it cute and wholesome in this green couture dress that was made by Filipino designer Oliver Tolentino.

13. AMY POEHLER

While we are still waiting for that moment when she’ll finally win an Emmy for herself, let’s all just pause and get content that now single Amy Poehler rocked the red carpet in this Stella McCartney shining dress that she paired with a $2 ring that she got from her kid’s toy box.

12. JESSICA PARE

Pare might be the latest addition among the Mad Men women cast, but she looks so pro as she looked divine  in this white Jason Wu gown that she paired with Bulgari jewels.

11. JANUARY JONES

From the new Mrs. Don Draper, let’s shift to the original one. January Jones skipped the Emmys last year, and she really made her presence felt this time around when she came back with a bang wearing this Zac Posen creation. I would have advised her to lessen the eye make up though.

09. JULIE BOWEN

Two time-Emmy winner Julie Bowen is one of the trifecta of Emmy winnrs who wore yellow at the event. In here, this strapless Monique Lhuiller gown complimented the Emmy she will be taking home.

08. PADMA LAKSHMI

Top Chef might not have won the Best Reality/Competition program, but Padma Lakshmi is all sort of winning in this orange Monique Lhuiller gown that she wore at the ceremonies.

07. SARAH PAULSON

Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries nominee Sarah Paulson might not have been swept away with the Game Change love last night, but this blue Reem Acra creation is winning on so many levels.

06. CLAIRE DANES

There are three things that Claire Danes must be proud of after last night. First is her new baby, second is her new Emmy, and the third one is her ravishing look in this bright yellow Lanvin gown that she matched off with Christian Louboutin heels.

05. JULIA LOUIS DREYFUS

Three time Emmy winner Julia Louis Dreyfus’ presence has been really missed in the Emmy red carpet after skipping last year, and she came back not only to receive an Emmy, deliver an awesome speech, and show to everyone her winning Vera Gown outfit.

04. GINNIFER GOODWIN

The Once Upon a Time star looked very interesting with this very detailed orange Monique Lhuiller creation that she paired with Christian Louboutin transparent heels, and a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch.

03. SOFIA VERGARA

Sofia had no such luck on her third attempt to win an Emmy, but it’s also her third time to appear on my yearly Emmy list with this aqua blue Zuhair Murad  gown. She should be considered for a grand slam already.

02. NICOLE KIDMAN

This is Nicole Kidman’s debut appearance at the Emmys, and she certainly did not disappoint, as she looked ravishing and young in this  Antonio Berardi creation that was just launched last week and Christian Siriano heels. Props to her style team for being that quick.

01. HEIDI KLUM

And the best dressed list is topped this year by none other than Heidi Klum who wears this very eye relaxing Alexander Vauthier creation that has a very high slit to boot. This is how you show a leg without looking tacky. Angelina, take notes!

That’s it! Another year of television done, and another one to look forward to. Who were the winners for you red carpet wise? Pipe them in below!

84th Academy Awards Best Dressed List   Leave a comment

Hollywood’s biggest night has just ended, and I don’t think anything can ruin my day especially since Meryl Streep just won her overdue coveted third Oscar. Who knew that 29 years later, she’d still get her moment above. Anyway, I did an okay 18/24 with Meryl Streep being the only prediction I got wrong (and this, I say, is the best wrong prediction I ever had). As for the red carpet, it was basically so-so, though these 12 looks stole the whole show tonight.

12. BUSY PHILIPPS in Dolce and Gabbana

She might be playing escort duties to Best Actress nominee Michelle Williams, but Busy Philipps finally hit the right stride i this gray Dolce and Gabbana creation that she sported last night.

11. LESLIE MANN in Roberto Cavalli

Who said that Tina Fey was the best dressed slash funniest comedienne in the house clearly didn’t spot Leslie Mann’s midnight blue Roberto Cavalli gown that she wore this year.

10. GWYNETH PALTROW in Tom Ford

Gwyenth is a very polarizing figure in the red carpet, but I guess I speak for the majority when I say that she looks divine in this white Tom Ford dress. And I can hear all the sighs of relief when she finally ditched that cape when she did presenter duties.

09. ROONEY MARA in Givenchy

She might be the girl with the dragon tattoo, but Mara finally ditched the goth black look she has been sporting all season, when she came out in this white Givenchy ensemble. Now if we can only work on her smile.

08. EMMA STONE in Giambattista Valli Couture

Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron know that wearing a bow is very risky within Oscar territory, but Emma Stone’s bubbly persona plus this red gown she was wearing made her an instant entry in the best dressed list.

07. MARIA MENOUNOS in Maria Lucia Hoha

Maria’s gown is not attention hugging, but the color and simplicity of the overall look of her airy Maria Lucia Hoha dress she wor complimented her. This one is definitely in for the books.

06. VIOLA DAVIS in Vera Wang

She might have not won the Oscar, but the Best Actress nominee made a statement by leaving off the wig at home and wearing this awesome green Vera Wang dress that is the same with the colorful awards season year she had.

05. PENELOPE CRUZ in Giorgio Armani

Oscar regular Penelope Cruz did not skip a beat in this youthful Giorgio Armani look that is reminiscent of her early Oscar red carpet experience circa 1999-2000.

04. MERYL STREEP in Lanvin

The best way to impress Oscar is to dress like one, and that’s what Meryl Streep exactly did in this golden Lanvin creation. Moreover, there’s no other accessory that will suit her than the actual Oscar that she surprisingly won.

03. GLENN CLOSE in Zac Posen

Who said you can’t glam up once you hit 60s? Glenn Close certainly didn’t get that memo, and she stunned us all in this green strapless Zac Posen photo.

02. ANGELINA JOLIE in Atelier Versace

Angelina Jolie, whose confidence wasn’t solely the legs she was pulling off, is an instant winner in this va va voom Atelier Versace dress that makes me think that it’s her best Oscar look of all time.

01. SANDRA BULLOCK in Marchesa

One might argue that Sandra Bullock does not deserve her Best Actress Oscar, but I think everyone is in agreement when we say that Sandra just looks divine in this Marchesa creation that she wore at last night’s activities.

How about you? Who are your choices for the Best Dressed? Pipe them in down. 🙂

Best Dressed List at the 18th Screen Actors Guild Awards   Leave a comment

Pretty meh red carpet, but here are 15 ladies who managed to stand out at this year’s event:

15. MELISSA McCARTHY in Badgley Mischka

Who said you need to have an hour glass figure just to be on the best dressed list? Best Supporting Actress nominee Melissa McCarthy doesn’t need that and she looks mighty fine in her Badgley Mischka dress that night.

14. SOFIA VERGARA in Marchesa

It’s very difficult to follow up that winning Golden Globe look, but Sofia Vergara did not disappoint with a pink Marchesa dress and matching accessories to boot.

13. LEA MICHELE in Versace

She’s been trying so hard to give this vamp sexy look, and though the slit was very much attention grabbing, everything else from the laid back hair and this Versace gown still saved the overall look.

12. KALEY CUOCO in Romona Keveza

This design has been tried and tested may times (and even better before), but one can’t deny how Kaley Cuoco looks very ethereal and floating in this Romona Keveza creation.

11. ARIEL WINTER in Collette Dinnigan

Probably one of the few child actors who actually dress their age, Ariel Winter looks youthful yet topnotch in this dress made by Australian designer Collette Dinnigan.

10. VIOLA DAVIS in Marchesa

Not only did she take home the Best Actress trophy that night, but Viola Davis also took home top fashion honors in this Grecian inspired Marchesa outfit.

9. DIANE LANE in David Mesiter

Diane Lane did not fail to live up with her fashion that night as the Best Actress in a TV Movie nominee looks regal and classy in her blue David Meister gown.

8. NAYA RIVERA in Naeem Khan

Who ever said that only blonde could become bombshells clearly hasn’t seen Naya Rivera’s sexy and seductive SAG look. All thanks to her Naeem Khan dress.

7. KYRA SEDGWICK in Emilio Pucci

The Closer star is really closer to the best dressed list this year as her Emilio Pucci gown (and her new tattoo) were clearly on top notch display that night.

6. DIANNA AGRON in Carolina Herrera

Dianna Agron totally redeemed herself from the red origami inspired Golden Globe dress she wore two weeks ago with this sexy and memorable pink Carolina Herrera gown she wore this year.

05. EMILY BLUNT in Oscar dela Renta

Another case of a dress that has been done many times already, this Oscar dela Renta creation still made the list because 1. green looks good on a SAG red carpet (remember Christina Applegate three years ago and Lea Michele two years ago)., and 2. this is Emily Blunt we’re talking about.

04. ANGELINA JOLIE in Jenny Packham

Her Golden Globe dress might be a hit or miss for many people, but majority loved this Jenny Packham black ensemble that Jolie wore last night. Don’t you dare tell me you did not think of a sexy vamp when you saw her.

03. TILDA SWINTON in Lanvin

Tilda plays the White Queen in and out of the screen, as she does another top notch collaboration with Lanvin for this year’s SAG awards. No one can play the icy queen persona more than La Tilda.

02. EMMA STONE in Alexander McQueen

Short or long, Emma Stone can make them all look flair, as she made another memorable fashion statement in this Alexander McQueen dress.

01. JESSICA CHASTAIN in Calvin Klein

And this year’s SAG winner is none other than Supporting Actress nominee Jessica Chastain who pushed all the right buttons in this blue Calvin Klein creation that she effortlessly pulled off. Her matching earrings played a factor as well, I guess.

Anyway, who are your own choices for Best Dressed this year? Pipe them here in the Comments section. 🙂
