64th Primetime Emmy Awards Best Dressed List   Leave a comment

If you’re not one of those who are concerned about the awards competition, then you’re probably in for the fashion right? TV’s biggest night just finished a while ago, and here are those who deserve Emmys for bringing award worthy moments in the red carpet.

You can click the photos for the larger version. Credits to and for the photos!

This 30 Rock supporting actress might have been deprived of an Emmy nomination this year, but this Kaufman Franco glittery dress that she paired with a Judith Leiber clutch and Lorraine Schwartz  jewels is a definitely a winning look in my book.

Girls star Allison Williams  stood out from all her co-stars in this Emmy nominated program when she stepped out of the red carpet wearing this emerald green Oscar dela Renta dress in the red carpet.

From one green dress to the next one, The Big Bang Theory‘s Melissa Rauch kept it cute and wholesome in this green couture dress that was made by Filipino designer Oliver Tolentino.

While we are still waiting for that moment when she’ll finally win an Emmy for herself, let’s all just pause and get content that now single Amy Poehler rocked the red carpet in this Stella McCartney shining dress that she paired with a $2 ring that she got from her kid’s toy box.

Pare might be the latest addition among the Mad Men women cast, but she looks so pro as she looked divine  in this white Jason Wu gown that she paired with Bulgari jewels.

From the new Mrs. Don Draper, let’s shift to the original one. January Jones skipped the Emmys last year, and she really made her presence felt this time around when she came back with a bang wearing this Zac Posen creation. I would have advised her to lessen the eye make up though.

Two time-Emmy winner Julie Bowen is one of the trifecta of Emmy winnrs who wore yellow at the event. In here, this strapless Monique Lhuiller gown complimented the Emmy she will be taking home.

Top Chef might not have won the Best Reality/Competition program, but Padma Lakshmi is all sort of winning in this orange Monique Lhuiller gown that she wore at the ceremonies.

Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries nominee Sarah Paulson might not have been swept away with the Game Change love last night, but this blue Reem Acra creation is winning on so many levels.

There are three things that Claire Danes must be proud of after last night. First is her new baby, second is her new Emmy, and the third one is her ravishing look in this bright yellow Lanvin gown that she matched off with Christian Louboutin heels.

Three time Emmy winner Julia Louis Dreyfus’ presence has been really missed in the Emmy red carpet after skipping last year, and she came back not only to receive an Emmy, deliver an awesome speech, and show to everyone her winning Vera Gown outfit.

The Once Upon a Time star looked very interesting with this very detailed orange Monique Lhuiller creation that she paired with Christian Louboutin transparent heels, and a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch.

Sofia had no such luck on her third attempt to win an Emmy, but it’s also her third time to appear on my yearly Emmy list with this aqua blue Zuhair Murad  gown. She should be considered for a grand slam already.

This is Nicole Kidman’s debut appearance at the Emmys, and she certainly did not disappoint, as she looked ravishing and young in this  Antonio Berardi creation that was just launched last week and Christian Siriano heels. Props to her style team for being that quick.

And the best dressed list is topped this year by none other than Heidi Klum who wears this very eye relaxing Alexander Vauthier creation that has a very high slit to boot. This is how you show a leg without looking tacky. Angelina, take notes!

That’s it! Another year of television done, and another one to look forward to. Who were the winners for you red carpet wise? Pipe them in below!

84th Academy Awards Best Dressed List   Leave a comment

Hollywood’s biggest night has just ended, and I don’t think anything can ruin my day especially since Meryl Streep just won her overdue coveted third Oscar. Who knew that 29 years later, she’d still get her moment above. Anyway, I did an okay 18/24 with Meryl Streep being the only prediction I got wrong (and this, I say, is the best wrong prediction I ever had). As for the red carpet, it was basically so-so, though these 12 looks stole the whole show tonight.

12. BUSY PHILIPPS in Dolce and Gabbana

She might be playing escort duties to Best Actress nominee Michelle Williams, but Busy Philipps finally hit the right stride i this gray Dolce and Gabbana creation that she sported last night.

11. LESLIE MANN in Roberto Cavalli

Who said that Tina Fey was the best dressed slash funniest comedienne in the house clearly didn’t spot Leslie Mann’s midnight blue Roberto Cavalli gown that she wore this year.

Gwyenth is a very polarizing figure in the red carpet, but I guess I speak for the majority when I say that she looks divine in this white Tom Ford dress. And I can hear all the sighs of relief when she finally ditched that cape when she did presenter duties.

09. ROONEY MARA in Givenchy

She might be the girl with the dragon tattoo, but Mara finally ditched the goth black look she has been sporting all season, when she came out in this white Givenchy ensemble. Now if we can only work on her smile.

08. EMMA STONE in Giambattista Valli Couture

Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron know that wearing a bow is very risky within Oscar territory, but Emma Stone’s bubbly persona plus this red gown she was wearing made her an instant entry in the best dressed list.

07. MARIA MENOUNOS in Maria Lucia Hoha

Maria’s gown is not attention hugging, but the color and simplicity of the overall look of her airy Maria Lucia Hoha dress she wor complimented her. This one is definitely in for the books.

06. VIOLA DAVIS in Vera Wang

She might have not won the Oscar, but the Best Actress nominee made a statement by leaving off the wig at home and wearing this awesome green Vera Wang dress that is the same with the colorful awards season year she had.

05. PENELOPE CRUZ in Giorgio Armani

Oscar regular Penelope Cruz did not skip a beat in this youthful Giorgio Armani look that is reminiscent of her early Oscar red carpet experience circa 1999-2000.

04. MERYL STREEP in Lanvin

The best way to impress Oscar is to dress like one, and that’s what Meryl Streep exactly did in this golden Lanvin creation. Moreover, there’s no other accessory that will suit her than the actual Oscar that she surprisingly won.

03. GLENN CLOSE in Zac Posen

Who said you can’t glam up once you hit 60s? Glenn Close certainly didn’t get that memo, and she stunned us all in this green strapless Zac Posen photo.

02. ANGELINA JOLIE in Atelier Versace

Angelina Jolie, whose confidence wasn’t solely the legs she was pulling off, is an instant winner in this va va voom Atelier Versace dress that makes me think that it’s her best Oscar look of all time.

01. SANDRA BULLOCK in Marchesa

One might argue that Sandra Bullock does not deserve her Best Actress Oscar, but I think everyone is in agreement when we say that Sandra just looks divine in this Marchesa creation that she wore at last night’s activities.

How about you? Who are your choices for the Best Dressed? Pipe them in down. 🙂

Best Dressed List at the 18th Screen Actors Guild Awards   Leave a comment

Pretty meh red carpet, but here are 15 ladies who managed to stand out at this year’s event:

15. MELISSA McCARTHY in Badgley Mischka

Who said you need to have an hour glass figure just to be on the best dressed list? Best Supporting Actress nominee Melissa McCarthy doesn’t need that and she looks mighty fine in her Badgley Mischka dress that night.

14. SOFIA VERGARA in Marchesa

It’s very difficult to follow up that winning Golden Globe look, but Sofia Vergara did not disappoint with a pink Marchesa dress and matching accessories to boot.

13. LEA MICHELE in Versace

She’s been trying so hard to give this vamp sexy look, and though the slit was very much attention grabbing, everything else from the laid back hair and this Versace gown still saved the overall look.

12. KALEY CUOCO in Romona Keveza

This design has been tried and tested may times (and even better before), but one can’t deny how Kaley Cuoco looks very ethereal and floating in this Romona Keveza creation.

11. ARIEL WINTER in Collette Dinnigan

Probably one of the few child actors who actually dress their age, Ariel Winter looks youthful yet topnotch in this dress made by Australian designer Collette Dinnigan.

10. VIOLA DAVIS in Marchesa

Not only did she take home the Best Actress trophy that night, but Viola Davis also took home top fashion honors in this Grecian inspired Marchesa outfit.

9. DIANE LANE in David Mesiter

Diane Lane did not fail to live up with her fashion that night as the Best Actress in a TV Movie nominee looks regal and classy in her blue David Meister gown.

8. NAYA RIVERA in Naeem Khan

Who ever said that only blonde could become bombshells clearly hasn’t seen Naya Rivera’s sexy and seductive SAG look. All thanks to her Naeem Khan dress.

7. KYRA SEDGWICK in Emilio Pucci

The Closer star is really closer to the best dressed list this year as her Emilio Pucci gown (and her new tattoo) were clearly on top notch display that night.

6. DIANNA AGRON in Carolina Herrera

Dianna Agron totally redeemed herself from the red origami inspired Golden Globe dress she wore two weeks ago with this sexy and memorable pink Carolina Herrera gown she wore this year.

05. EMILY BLUNT in Oscar dela Renta

Another case of a dress that has been done many times already, this Oscar dela Renta creation still made the list because 1. green looks good on a SAG red carpet (remember Christina Applegate three years ago and Lea Michele two years ago)., and 2. this is Emily Blunt we’re talking about.

04. ANGELINA JOLIE in Jenny Packham

Her Golden Globe dress might be a hit or miss for many people, but majority loved this Jenny Packham black ensemble that Jolie wore last night. Don’t you dare tell me you did not think of a sexy vamp when you saw her.

03. TILDA SWINTON in Lanvin

Tilda plays the White Queen in and out of the screen, as she does another top notch collaboration with Lanvin for this year’s SAG awards. No one can play the icy queen persona more than La Tilda.

02. EMMA STONE in Alexander McQueen

Short or long, Emma Stone can make them all look flair, as she made another memorable fashion statement in this Alexander McQueen dress.

01. JESSICA CHASTAIN in Calvin Klein

And this year’s SAG winner is none other than Supporting Actress nominee Jessica Chastain who pushed all the right buttons in this blue Calvin Klein creation that she effortlessly pulled off. Her matching earrings played a factor as well, I guess.

Anyway, who are your own choices for Best Dressed this year? Pipe them here in the Comments section. 🙂

Best Dressed List at the 69th Golden Globe Awards   5 comments

Now that the awards have already been given out, and I did well with my predictions (Got 21 out of 25 exactly, the other four are my spoiler choices, so you can consider that I got all winners correctly. 🙂 ), let’s no move on to one of the favorite post-events highlight of the show. Here’s my list of those were shining like a globe at last Sunday’s activity.

16. Diane Lane in Reem Acra

Channeling an old Hollywood theme, Golden Globe nominee Diane Lane shines and looks good in this gold gown made by Reem Acra.

15. Michelle Williams in Jason Wu

Very far from her Marilyn Monroe role, Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy winner Michelle Williams plays a big step up in this midnight blue Jason Wu creation with matching headband to complement the look.

14. Viola Davis in Emilio Pucci

Though she didn’t take home any award tonight, Best Actress nominee Viola Davis looks simply stunning in this asymmetrical burgundy gown made by Emilio Pucci with some leg action to boot.

13. Freida Pinto in Prada

Freida Pinto keeps it simple yet stylish  in a teal Prada dress with only a small thin belt that served as an accessory.

12. Julianne Moore in Chanel

After two years of wearing mixed bag dresses, Julianne Moore finally got it right this year as she kept it simple and fresh looking in a black Chanel ensemble and emerald tassel earrings.

11. Berenice Bejo in Gucci Première

She might be a “WHO?” to everyone, but Globe nominee Berenice Bejo definitely made heads turn in this strapless sapphire Gucci Première outfit she wore last night.

10. Emma Stone in Lanvin

Finally wearing her red do at the Golden Globes, Emma Stone got sexy and vamp combined in this plunging maroon Lanvin creation she sashayed at this year’s Golden Globes.

09. Salma Hayek in Gucci

Known for her over the top gowns that highlights her cleavage most of the time, this black and gold Gucci dress is a very good change of pace for Salma Hayek, and it gave her instant entry to the best dressed list.

08. Claire Danes in J. Mendel

Not only did Claire Danes went home with a trophy this year for Best Actress in a TV Series Drama, but she also won top honors for this backless black and white J. Mendel gown she donned at the ceremony.

07. Laura Dern in Andrew Gn

While green was the color of last year’s Golden Globes, Laura Dern played the  “better late than never” card in this shimmering Andrew Gn gown that matches her Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Musical or Comedy trophy.

06. Helen Mirren in Badgley Mischa

Proving that real fashion does not get old with age, Dame Helen Mirren put many starlets to shame when she wore this blue Badgley Mischa creation that gave her body all the real curves that you can get from a dame.

05. Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace

Isn’t Angie lovely when she puts an effort on what she wear? A clear testament is this Atelier Versace creation that made her look very elegant at last night’s activities.

04. Nicole Kidman in Versace

Nicole Kidman fits like a glove in this intricately designed cream Versace gown that gave her a regal yet relaxed aura, and an instant spot in the Best Dressed List this year.

03. Shailene Woodley in Marchesa

She can still work on her poses and posture, but there’s no doubt that her choice of this strapless silver Marchesa gown is a good start to her long Oscar red carpet adventure.

02. Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang

Not wearing her usual loud colors, Sofia Vergara maintained a low key yet very striking look in this lovely shade of blue peacock strapless Vera Wang creation that gave an effortless yet unforgettable red carpet look.

01. Charlize Theron in Dior

25 Best Red Carpet Looks of 2011   2 comments

After my 10 Best Local Shows of 2011, here’s another of those year end lists.  This year, we’ve seen lots of golden red carpet sightings from the Golden Globes to the SAGs, Grammys, BAFTAs, Oscars, and Emmys. There were also lots of fashion highlights from different red carpet premieres this year. And though we don’t get an Elizabeth Hurley pin dress, Halle Berry’s red Oscar gown, or Penelope’s pink ostrich ensemble, here are 25 Red carpet looks that got a yay in my book:

25. LEA MICHELE in Escada at the Met Gala Awards

Lea’s known for her very dramatic long trains as what she wore at this January’s Golden Globes, but she managed to stay away from that and maintained a slick, mature look at this year’s Met Gala Awards in this red Escada gown.

24. MARTHA PLIMPTON in Zac Posen at the Primetime Emmy Awards

Raising Hope star Martha Plimpton might not have won the Emmy this year (Melissa McCarthy did), but she’s an instant winner that night in this sparkling red Zac Posen creation at the Primetime Emmy Awards last September.

23. CLAIRE DANES in Louis Vuitton at the Screen Actors Guild Awards

Claire Danes has a banner year this year winning trophies for her performance in Temple Grandin, but her blue floral Louis Vuitton icy queen look at the SAG awards last March is another winning performance fashion-wise.

22. ANNETTE BENING in Marchesa at the BAFTA Awards

Annette Bening might have played a lesbo in her Oscar nominated performance in The Kids Are All Right earlier this year, but her red carpet appearances have been nothing but very womanly, just like this ethereal look she had in this white gown at the BAFTAs.

21. TINA FEY in Oscar dela Renta at the Screen Actors Guild Awards

For funny woman Tina Fey, it is very rare that we see her not wearing a black or dark colored gown. So it’s a breath of fresh air when she stepped out in this red Oscar dela Renta creation at January’s SAG Awards. See Tina, wearing something outside of dark colors won’t make you look laughable.

20. EVAN RACHEL WOOD in Elie Saab at the Primetime Emmy Awards

Nominated for her role as Kate Winslet’s rebellious daughter in Mildred Pierce, I don’t see anyone who’ll rebel with the notion that this sparkling black Elie Saab outfit that Evan Rachel Wood at the Emmys is one of the year’s red carpet highlights.

19. ZHANG ZIYI in Christian Dior at the Rome premiere of Love for Life

Zhang Ziyi does well with ball gowns, as proven by her memorable yellow Golden Globe dress in 2005. Here’s another that you can add to the list: her blue Christian Dior dress at the Love for Life premiere in Rome.

18. CATE BLANCHETT in Givenchy at the Academy Awards

Blanchett is probably known as one of the best dressed actresses of her generation. While this dress is very much polarizing, I think she has earned her spot in this list for the white Givenchy ensemble she sported at the Oscars last March.

17. ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELEY in Naeem Khan at the Berlin premiere of Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Replacing Megan Fox is a very big task to do, but Rosie Huntington-Whiteley seems to be up for the challenge. Her silver sparkling outfit at the Berlin Transformers premiere definitely sealed the deal. Megan who?

16. OLIVIA WILDE in Marchesa at the Golden Globes

One of the most fashionable young actresses we have, Olivia Wilde surprises everyone with each of her red carpet looks this year. This includes her show stopping dress at last January’s Golden Globes.

15. HAILEE STEINFELD in Prada at the Screen Actors Guild Awards

Steinfeld gets my props for bringing something new to the table with each red carpet appearance, but her colorful SAG outfit gets the most points as it showcased her dressing by her age perfectly. Well done, Hailee!

14. EMMA WATSON in Oscar dela Renta at the London premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

We’ve seen Emma Watson since her early Hermione days, but this Oscar dela Renta gown that she wore at the London premiere last July is probably her all time best red carpet look.

13. CATHERINE ZETA JONES in Monique Lhuillier at the Golden Globe Awards

Lots of personal issues came both Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones this year, but none of that were transparent once Catherine strutted in this moss green Monique Lhullier creation at the Globes. here’s hoping that the next time Zeta wore one of her creations, she better know the pronunciation of her name.

12. GWEN STEFANI in L.A.M.B at the Cannes Film Festival

Gwen Stefani is probably one of the most fashionable women on earth. And isn’t this amazing that this amazing look she had at the Cannes came from her own creation and design L.A.M.B? Gwen does them all in one, yet she still looks every inch amazing.

11. EMMA STONE in Lanvin at the Met Costume Gala

Blonde Emma is not the Emma Stone that I prefer, but she’s so sass and chic here in this Lanvin gown she wore at the Met Gala Ball. I’d give her an easy A for Awesome.

10. ANGELINA JOLIE in Versace at the Cannes Film Festival

Angelina Jolie has a very good fashion history with Cannes. Remember the green dress when she was pregnant? How about the yellow one? Now, you can add this chocolate Versace gown to her historic Cannes red carpet moments.

9. NINA DOBREV in Donna Karan at the Primetime Emmy Awards

Nina Dobrev might be too shallow for the Primetime Emmy’s taste, but she’s doing it like a pro in her red Donna Karan ensemble that she wore last September. Too bad she wasn’t able to grace the stage that night, so that the world can see her best dressed look.

8. MILA KUNIS in Vera Wang at the Golden Globe Awards

Green was the highlight of this year’s Globes with everyone from Christina Hendricks to Angelina Jolie to Catherine Zeta Jones all glamming up this earthy color. Mila Kunis takes the cake though, in this asymmetrical one shoulder Vera Wang creation.

7. BEYONCE in Lanvin at the MTV Video Music Awards

Beyonce surely knows how to make a baby announcement. By wearing this orange Lanvin gown at the VMAs this year, Beyonce just let the whole world know that she is pregnant in the most fashionable way.

6. JENNIFER LAWRENCE in Calvin Klein at the Academy Awards

This fashion statement has been said many times already, but there’s something about Oscar Best Actress nominee Jennifer Lawrence that made this a striking and memorable outfit for this year.

5. TILDA SWINTON in Haider Ackermann at the Cannes Film Festival

Blue is my favorite color. Period. Now, seeing Tilda Swinton rock this blue Haider Ackermann gown at the Cannes Film Festival, I’m pretty sure that everyone’s thinking “We need to talk about Tilda.”

4. BLAKE LIVELY in Chanel at the Met Gala Institute

Blake Lively is definitely one of the world’s sexiest women. Nude photos or not, one can’t help but be interested when she keeps on sporting this fabulous looks such as this Chanel outfit at the Met Gala Institute. This is what you’ve been missing, Leo.

3. NICOLE KIDMAN in Jean Paul Gaultier at the Grammy Awards

The Grammys might be music’s biggest honor, but fashion wise, it was Nicole Kidman who wowed the event in this Jean Paul Gaultier creation. Hands down, her best red carpet look in years!

2. REESE WITHERSPOON in Armani Prive at the Academy Awards

Reese opted for the classic black with a hint of white in this Armani Prive dress she wore at the Oscars. Add the Julia Roberts hair do, and then you have a memorable Oscar look.

1. ANNE HATHAWAY in Armani Prive at the Golden Globe Awards

And Armani Prive does a back to back. Her hosting stint at the Oscar might have fizzled, but Anne sizzled in her Golden Globe backless look which is my top red carpet moment of 2011.

Do you agree with this list? What are your own choices? Go to the Comments section and list them down. 🙂
